Only three months ago heartbroken BBC star Robert Peston buried his wife.
Now the business editor has had to endure fresh torment ahead of his first Christmas without her – after burglars stole her engagement and wedding rings.
The cherished vintage jewellery was taken when intruders broke into his home.
Two laptops containing sensitive material and an iPad were also swiped.
Police fear he may have been raided because of his job.

Robert, 52, was widowed in September when his author wife Sian Busby lost her five-year battle with lung cancer, aged just 51.
Robert, 52, tweeted today: “Burgled last night. My beloved late wife’s 1920s engagement and wedding rings taken. Naive to think they might turn up, but...”
Raiders forced their way into his house in Muswell Hill, North London, via a back door yesterday.
Robert said some of the material on the laptops had delicate information related to his work.
Det Sgt Gordon McKay, of Haringey CID, said: “He could have been targeted because of what he does for a job.

“He has told us about sensitive material on the equipment. It’s not been disclosed because it could compromise the situation.
"It’s something he would have had to tell his employers at the BBC.”
Sian, who was acclaimed for her fiction and non-fiction writing, was diagnosed with lung cancer nearly five years ago.
She was a friend of Robert’s younger sister Juliet and the pair briefly dated when they were studying at different universities.
They then rekindled their relationship in the mid 90s after her first marriage ended.
