A 20-year-old American beauty queen has been crowned Miss Universe.
Miss USA Olivia Culpo beat 88 competitors to win the title at the Planet Hollywood casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
It is the first time in 15 years that America's contestant has donned the coveted tiara. She is the eighth winner from the US.
"What an honor! This night was a dream come true. Thank you everyone for your support tonight!! USA finally did it," she tweeted after the show.
Olivia strutted in a purple and blue bikini and a red velvet gown and answered a question about her regrets by saying she wished she had not picked on her siblings.
It was the 61th anniversary of the world's biggest beauty pageant.
Miss Culpo takes the crown from last year's winner, Leila Lopes of Angola.
Miss Philippines, Janine Tugonon, came second while Miss Venezuela, Irene Sofia Esser Quintero, was third.
The pageant was streamed live on TV to more than 100 countries.
Miss Great Britain, psychology student Holly Hale, 22, from Llanelli, Wales, did not make it to the final rounds of the competition.
