This shocking CCTV image shows the moment an armed robber leapt over a counter and hit a shop owner on the head with a machete.
David Ezard, 59, feared he would die in the terrifying off-licence attack.
He was left with blood pouring down his face and says he is unable to sleep since the raid.
A second thug punched his 16-year-old son in the back of the head, while a third raider searched the stockroom.

Mr Ezard said: “He could have killed me with the intensity of what he did. I’m on tenterhooks all the time, especially when it goes dark. I’m not sleeping at all.”
His son escaped and ran into the street to shout for help. The robbers grabbed cash and cigarettes from behind the counter before fleeing.
“I was checking something on the till about six feet away from the door. Suddenly, I looked up and there was a big knife in front of me.
“He came running in the shop and jumped the counter, hit me over the head and knocked me to the ground. He was shouting at me to get the till open or he would do me again.
“I was struggling because there was blood running down my face and he’d knocked my glasses off.”
